ASME B30 in 1999 National Safety Council in 1999 Specialised Carriers and Riggers in 1999 Crane Safety in 2003 The current draft is out before IEEE members before publishing in the public domain. We are aware of Dr. Karaday's work and he has a copy of the CPLSO proposed standard for comment. It now contains three more categories have been added fo r RF, Foundry and Munitions insulators. Obviously the Munitions and Foundry insulators do not need self test. We wait to hear if Hirtzer & Assoc. be happy for this new standard to replace the Navy standard which excludes any other design but theirs? There is always a desire to support business and the market place will dictate choices. To use your analogy with cars – today a Model T could not be sold without ABS and seatbelts, low emission etc. The fact that your products have been around does not change the desire of the law to require modern developments. Making Insulating links or proximity devices is not rocket science and we look forward to hear of any scientific reason why there should be any dissent from adopting the proposed CPLSO standard.
